Most important textile sectors in Mexico
Textile enterprises had a losing streak in the last decade and by then it looked like the maquiladora industry was stuck in a bump it could not get out of; however, things have improved for the textile sector and the companies have been able to start over again, Comarca Lagunera, Estado de Mexico, Guanajuato y Puebla are some of the most important textile sectors in the country, dedicating an important amount of companies and workers to this activity, seeing how businesses have increased over the last few years.
“There is still a long way to go to be able to reach the level of work that we used to have years ago, but enterprises such as Grupo Denim are working hard to achieve negotiations with new customers abroad and be able to increase our production levels”, commented Salomon Juan Marcos Villarreal, president of this company.
Durango State in Mexico has been one of the most benefited regarding the increase of work on the textile industry.
The outlook seems promising and the entrepreneurs are betting on this sector and look really optimist, as Salomon Juan Marcos Villarreal commented on the following interview:
Interviewer: Do you think that the textile industry can once again be as important as it used to be 10 or more years ago?
Salomon Juan Marcos Villarreal: Yes, of course, I even dare saying it can even be more important than then.
I: How do you think the maquiladoras can increase their production?
SJMV: Using the same formula we have used so far, working hard, and proposing new designs to our customers, trying to keep low costs and short delivery terms.
I: What can you foresee for this industry in 2016?
SJMV: Good news, there are some work proposes that look quite promising, so we think 2016 can be even better than 2015.
Textile sectors are very important for Mexico and they have not stopped in the task of keeping a good place between the most competitive companies in the country.
“Mexican people are enterprising, able to keep on going against all adversities, maquiladoras had of course faced some bad times but they have gotten ahead and keep on generation job sources for Mexico”, added Salomon Juan Marcos Villarreal.
